CRST Unit Adds Services, Changes Name

CRST Flatbed Inc. said that it has expanded its offerings to include van services in response to the diverse shipping needs of its flatbed customers, and concurrent with the changes, has changed it name to CRST Malone.

CRST Malone, a national truckload carrier headquartered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is part of CRST International, which purchased Malone Freight Lines in 1984. From there, Malone Freight Lines became CRST Flatbed. Now, the company said, it has re-introduced Malone into its name to build on the recognition it holds in the market with agents and independent contractors, while also representing its broader scope of services.

Its new diversification of services will allow CRST Malone to meet the increased needs of several of its flatbed customers, such as Alcoa, the carrier said.

“Alcoa's shipping needs are 60% flatbed and 40% van,” said Mike Gannon, CRST Malone president. “We are diversifying to include van service in response to the current needs of a number of our flatbed customers while at the same time anticipating their future shipping needs. We make it our business to read the road map and stay ahead of the demand. We will have the capacity to respond to our customers' evolving needs, whatever they may be.”

CRST Malone said it offers dedicated service to those companies that require it.
