April 3, 2007 (Louisville, Ky.) -- Mercer contractor, Dawn Beck, was the lucky winner of a custom Orange County Chopper given away by American Graphics Group at the Mid-America Truck Show held March 24.
The chopper giveaway coincided with last year’s All American Superstar competition. More than 100,000 entries were received via voting ballots on the AAS website and TripPak ballots located in Big Rig Owner magazine and at select TripPak drop box locations.
According to AGG, the custom bike, valued at more than $50,000, features a rigid frame, 110 cubic inch Rev Tech engine, 6-speed Rev Tech transmission, custom wheels, drag bars, rear seat, pegs, and a Vance & Hines big radius exhaust system. “This was definitely a pleasant surprise,” says Beck of her win. “I was originally entering to win the $50,000 truck makeover, but this can definitely be put to some fun use as well!” she adds.
Beck, of Fountain, Fla., was selected from five semifinalists, all of which were present for the giveaway. She has been driving professionally for 5 years, and has been with Mercer since May 2006. Beck also teams with her husband, Chris. “Chris and I made up our mind that if we are going to be trucking, we would do it together, and I love it,” she says. “I enjoy being out on the road with no one standing over my shoulder. It’s nice to be our own boss!” She adds.
