On July 22, Craig Donton went above and beyond the call of duty when he saved a driver and his dog from a burning truck. “I didn’t even think about it; I just reacted,” Craig said of the rescue that took place just North of Valdosta, GA on I-75. “I wasn’t trying to be a hero. It’s just a natural response when you come upon a situation like this. I just knew he needed help and all I could think about was making sure whoever was in that truck got out safely. I am thankful that I was there and that I was able to help get him and his dog out of the truck.”
U.S. Xpress is very proud of Craig and chose him for their July “Driver of the Month.” U.S. Xpress recently started a “Driver of the Month” program as a way to seek out drivers who are the top in their profession. As Bill Farris, Senior Vice President of Operations explained, “We have drivers who are doing great things each day. You don’t have to be a hero to win this award. You just have to do your job well.”
